What to Expect

Following my slightly crazy but amazing journey and trainings over the last 8 years, I have created a varied offering to choose from, all of which has the breath at the heart of it. Each of my sessions is totally unique, and I work hard to ensure the most effective and enjoyable combination of accompanying music, breathwork, movement and those all important moments to be still and discover the true magic and transformative power of the pause. Though I welcome you with open arms to sample the taster classes on this site (once you have read the T&Cs/disclaimer), the live classes is where we really learn how we can radically change the way we feel through the simplest of breath techniques and stretches, both of which are at the heart and true soul of everything I do.

From ‘quick fix’ 7-minute breaths called Breath EQ, which uses breathwork to help us deal with different types of emotions; total chill out 10 – 15 minute Breath + nest sound bath sessions; longer 25 minute toning yet emotionally balancing and transformative classic Kundalini yoga classes called Breath + Flex; and 25 minute Breath + Stretch sessions, often also known as Pranayama in Pyjamas – though you can genuinely wear your PJs for any of my sessions :@). And if you want or need to transform your body as well as your mind The Five Tibetans needs to be your first port of call. Trust me, you’ll never look back!

Please note that this website currently only includes sample Classic Kundalini Yoga recordings (ie those which feature the traditional opening and closing chants), Kundalini Global sample classes will follow soon once I pass the very final stage of my coursework! I’m sorry but none of these sessions are suitable for pregnancy. The Secret Breath + Stretch Society Portal also has additional pre recorded yoga, breath and gong sessions, and a library of pre-recorded classes) that you can purchase to do at your leisure.

Girl on Gong

For those who have never attended a gong bath or sound healing, and who might be sceptical of it being a bit woo-woo, all I can say is please try it, you won’t look back. Even those of you who may have had a few uncertain, unsettling experiences with the gong – I too have been there! – can rest assured that this will be different. In the words of my trainer “The gong works on all levels to heal and transform. From the purely physical, to the emotional and spiritual. Its cosmic resonance does what all therapy is made to do – reminds us of who we truly are and not what we think we have become.” And let’s face it, we can all do with a bit of that, especially in these crazy times.

Benefits include: Aiding a deeper sleep * Reducing stress & anxiety * Assist with pain relief * Helping to break addictive habits and regenerate the nervous system.

I was lucky enough to be trained by who many see as the ultimate gong master – Mehtab Benton – renowned teacher and author of nearly all the most definitive books and guides to gongs. It was one of the most magical, transformational trainings I’ve ever experienced, with the focus from start to finish on only ever playing the gong from a neutral mind and an open heart, and each and every time I play it I feel lucky I am able to share the gifts each gong session brings, and in a way that calms and relaxes the body and soul, rather than shock it as some gong playing does. All you need to do is layback, pop your eyelids shut, open the ears and open your mind. What do you have to lose :@).

The Breath Gym

I first experienced the power of the breath at an unexpected visit to my first wellness retreat in Thailand. Arriving hungover and highly unimpressed with the lack of swimming pool, I reluctantly agreed to attending a sacred breath workshop on my first day that I was told would take me on a journey through my subconscious. Cynical and with low expectations, within 2 minutes of breathing in a certain way I suddenly found myself on the very promised journey, humbled and wowed in equal measure, and signing up to a seven day programme.

After years of attending classes, and reading and researching the subject, this year I have been lucky enough to train with who I (and many others) see as the high priestess of pranayama, Carolyn Cowan.  After qualifying with her coveted Yoga Alliance Pranayama certification, as well as her ‘Mastering the Addictive & Anxious Personality’ teacher training qualification, I am genuinely over the moon to be able to share those learnings and life-changing effects of the breath and the stretch with others.

All of my treatments, sound healings, 1:1 and group classes incorporate ancient, scientifically proven breath and stretch techniques into sessions which serve modern day needs. For a daily dose we recommend approximately    20-25g per person or 42g for ceremonial use. Cacao is not suitable for those on SSRIs / antidepressants.

Little Fish in Water

Launching in 2022, Little Fish in Water s a unique yoga, breath + stretch offering specifically designed for the modern day needs of 3 to 18 year olds – toddlers, tweens & teens. Katharine was trained by Siri Arti – one of the world’s most respected teachers of children’s and teen’s yoga – as part of the Starchild Yoga Academy, and her carefully and relevantly curated classes (each class theme different every time) aim to combine breathwork, meditation, stretch and yoga in an enjoyable, engaging and powerfully effective way. The Secret Breath + Stretch Society

I have been super conscious for a while that the traditional social media tightrope of Instagram and Facebook though fun at times, also has its flaws, so one night (literally one night in true over obsessive style!) I decided to take all my formal trainings, recordings, ideas, insights and inspirations from the last 7 years and create a mini platform for like minded people to not only come for a safe chilled space to share, post, learn and linger.

Free to join, The Secret Breath + Stretch Society has been designed to be a place that you may find yourself on the random (or maybe even regular) days you need some positive inspiring cat-nip to peruse, meditations, visualisations and gongbaths that help you close your eye and chill out to, as well as tips. tools and techniques with which to calm and train your breath, body and that cheeky little ‘monkey mind’.

Though the Tips + Tools section on this site will be updated with some short titbits and things to try, The Secret Breath + Stretch Society is the place where the longer articles and videos are posted.  A place and space where the words compare, contrast and compete don’t exist; a place you are not going to leave feeling like you’ve been beaten be a filtered selfie stick; and where you can pick and choose on the topic section on everything from book club, breaths of the week and quotes of the day, to sleep tips, stress busters and hormone hackers – yes hormone hacking is an actual thing and not as scary as it sounds I promise!
